Silent Whisperers (2025)

Concrete, steel, stone engraving

London, Westminster

Community engagement and public sculpture project

We are pleased to present Silent Whisperers (2025), a public art project by Ukrainian artist Ona Telos. This socially engaged work is an urban, semi-architectural yet organic intervention that blends monumental concrete forms with minimalist aesthetics and poetry. Designed to be solid and durable, the sculpture also serves as public seating.

But this is more than a functional space—it is intended as a space for contemplation and reflection. The design is inspired by the aesthetics of Japanese Zen gardens, the Arte Povera movement, and Little Sparta, the sculpture garden of Scottish artist Ian Hamilton Finlay.

The work offers a piece of human-made nature, featuring sculptural forms that resemble natural stones and are engraved with a haiku by Pimlico-based London-Irish poet Kevin Raymond. The inscription reads:

We Can All Have A Hand In…

Peace…

Love…

And Understanding.

In a time of escalating global tensions, this message feels especially important. “For everyone, the longing for peace is not abstract—it is deeply personal and powerful,” Ona Telos shares. “Beyond contributing to the area and its community, this work is my way of thanking the UK for its ongoing support and expressing the shared spirit of resilience and solidarity between our nations.”

The project has been funded by Pimlico Million, an award-winning, resident-led community development organisation .
