RAM-X (2015–2017)

RAM-X is a bio-digital audiovisual installation — a synthetic and experimental manifestation of contemporary media practices that emerge at the intersection of information philosophy, sound art, video, sculpture, and live interactivity.

At its symbolic centre stands a minimalist sculpture in the shape of an X — a universal signifier of the “unknown.” Its openness to a wide range of interpretations makes it an especially compelling symbol for contemporary eclectic artistic expression.

The title RAM-X is a play on words. “RAM” stands for Random-Access Memory, the form of computer data storage that holds information and machine code currently in use. Simultaneously, “ram” refers to a male sheep — a dual meaning that becomes literal within the installation. The work features live sheep equipped with microchips, enabling real-time interaction with video and sound components.

Symbolically, RAM-X constructs, mirrors, and reimagines the complex patterns of interaction between living organisms and the modern informational environment — along with the derivative structures that shape perception and behaviour. The project examines the psychological mechanisms of media reception in humans and animals within a post-Christian digital era.

A partial realisation of RAM-X was presented at the Gamma Festival in Saint Petersburg in 2017.
